Types of Laryngeal Masks Available for Bronchoscopic Procedures

Laryngeal mask ventilation in fiberoptic bronchoscopy procedures

Laryngeal mask ventilation is an increasingly popular choice for fiberoptic bronchoscopy diagnosis and treatment under general anesthesia. The laryngeal mask is less difficult to place, is well tolerated by the patient, and allows the physician to observe the vocal folds and lesions.

Fiberoptic bronchoscopy via an ordinary laryngeal mask

At present, Fiber optic using a modified laryngeal mask is a popular way during bronchoscopy. It usually to use a common single-tube laryngeal mask with Y-connecting tube. However, this ordinary laryngeal mask has certain limitations in bronchoscopy:

1. Small inner diameter of the central channel:

Current laryngeal mask with small inner diameter, the advancement of the bronchoscope in the laryngeal mask sometimes is obstructed and not easy to be maneuvered.

2. It require an external Y-tube:

In order not to occupy the airway during bronchoscopy operation, doctors usually add an additional Y-tube, which is time-consuming and costly.

To make easier airway management during fiberoptic bronchsocopy diagnosis and treatment, Dr.Xia Min & Dami Medical team developed a laryngeal mask specifically for Bronchoscopy with LMA.

Dami fiberoptic bronchoscopy laryngeal mask has the following features:
1. Larger-diameter operation channel, the inner diameter of the central channel is 1.5~3 times of the common laryngeal masks

The inner diameter of the central channel is large enough to make the bronchoscopy more smooth and silky, and the laryngeal mask don’t interfer the sensitive operation; After bronchoscopy, can remain the normal air flow and the ventilation effect is reliable.

2. There is an one-piece Y-connecting tube, which with no occupation of airway, bring reliable ventilation and treatment of bronchoscopy.

When ventilating the patient through the branch port, the bronchoscope procedure will be through the main port to realize bronchoscopic diagnosis and treatment while ventilating the patient

3. There is a silicone cap on the main port, to prevent oxygen leakage during bronchoscopy.
Application Scenarios of Dami Bronchoscopic Laryngeal Mask

Bronchoscopy, foreign body removal, endobronchial tumor ablation, endotracheal stent placement and removal, ultrasonic positioning and biopsy, bronchoalveolar lavage, airway obstruction, etc.
