Professor Xia Min, the Chief Innovation Officer and Deputy Director of the Department of Anesthesiology at the First Affiliated Hospital of the University of Science and Technology of China, and the founder of Dami Medical, initiated the “Artificial Intelligence and Innovation Transformation Special Session” and shared the rankings of the “Chinese Hospital Innovation Transformation List” released at the 5th China Medical Innovation Summit on June 17. The First Affiliated Hospital of the University of Science and Technology of China achieved remarkable results. Professor Xia Min pointed out that China’s medical innovation transformation is still in its early stages, with national policies and regulations strongly encouraging and promoting its sound development.
Innovative inventions within hospitals should not remain confined to internal use but should be combined with external institutions and enterprises to achieve true transformation of results. The greatest challenge in product commercialization currently lies in research and development. Professor Xia Min shared the difficulties he encountered during the development process of the Dami Double Lumen Multi-channel Laryngeal Mask and the corresponding countermeasures. He emphasized that during the R&D process, it is crucial to have not only scientific and technical thinking but also product and business thinking. Only through multi-party coordination and cross-disciplinary collaborations with high-quality patented products be truly developed.

Duan Qingsheng, the editor-in-chief of “Medical Plastics” magazine, initially introduced the diverse types of medical plastics and different processing techniques, emphasizing that polymer materials have become the most crucial materials in the medical device industry. Selecting appropriate materials and suitable processing techniques are key steps in achieving medical device innovation. Professor Wang Sheng from the First Affiliated Hospital of the University of Science and Technology of China discussed the current issues in anesthesia monitoring, analyzing the risks of current monitoring practices and the current situation of anesthesiologists in China.
